Once a week we take the 1-hour drive to the Temazcal in Mazunte.  What is it?  A Temazcal (also known as a sweat lodge) is an experience of purification and healing in which one works directly with the four elements of fire, earth, water and air in order to connect with the origin of life itself.

Before entering into the hut, heated with hot rocks, each person receives an energetic cleaning with feathers, copal and the power of the 'curandero' (local healer).  Once inside, the red hot rocks are treated with a medicinal tea which produces a vapor of purification.  During the ritual, songs, instruments, and a guided visualization deliver the effect of the vapor to the mind, body, and spirit, eliminating toxins and much more.  



The duration is approximately three hours.
